Croatia’s industrial production declined by 0.8% year-on-year in January 2026, following a 4.5% expansion in December. This marked the first contraction since July 2025 and was driven by weaker activity in key sectors, notably mining and quarrying (-13.7% vs 0% in December) and manufacturing (-0.8% vs 6.4%).

Within manufacturing, the steepest drops were recorded in the production of computers, electronic and optical products (-31.4% vs -28.2%), tobacco products (-34.9% vs -33.7%), and leather and related products (-28.3% vs -9.0%). By contrast, output in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply returned to growth, rising 11.1% after a 6.0% decline in December.

On a monthly basis, industrial production fell by 2.3% in January, reversing a 1.2% increase in December.
