2026.07.2323:25:25UTC+00U.S. Sets 10%-12-1/2% Import Tariffs on 60 Trading Partners

The Trump administration has announced new tariffs of 10% to 12.5% on imports from roughly 60 U.S. trading partners, replacing the temporary 10% duties set to expire on Friday. These new tariffs will apply to nearly all U.S. imports, with the administration asserting that the affected countries have not done enough to prohibit or enforce restrictions on goods made with forced labor.

Economies that have enacted partial bans on forced labor, or have pledged to strengthen such measures—including the UK, Canada, Mexico, and India—will face a 10% tariff. By contrast, countries judged to have inadequate safeguards, such as China, South Korea, and Japan, will be subject to a 12.5% duty.

Products already covered by sector-specific tariffs or by tariffs imposed on national security grounds will remain exempt from these new measures. The move underscores the administration’s broader effort to reestablish its global tariff framework after the Supreme Court invalidated its earlier structure in February.
